Sometimes you want frame navigation on desktop but full-page navigation on mobile. You can decide the target frame at render time. This keeps UX tuned without duplicating controller actions.

For batch operations, Stimulus can manage the UI state (select all, indeterminate checkbox) while Turbo submits a regular form. This keeps the server in charge of authorization and the UI simple.

When replacing DOM chunks, morphing reduces flicker and preserves focus/selection. If you enable morphing, prefer server-rendered HTML that’s stable and keyed. It’s a subtle but meaningful quality improvement.

Autosave drafts without fighting Turbo: send a fetch request with CSRF token, keep it separate from the main form submit, and surface “Saved” status unobtrusively. This is a great fit for content editors.

Sometimes you want to show non-blocking warnings (e.g., “link looks unreachable”) while still saving. Turbo streams can append warnings to a panel without rerendering the whole page.

Turbo supports data-turbo-confirm, but sometimes you want a stronger confirmation step (type-to-confirm, extra context, multi-step). Stimulus lets you implement consistent confirmations without sprinkling JS across views.

You can build rich UIs by scoping navigation to a frame (e.g., a sidebar). Links inside the sidebar update only that frame while the main content stays put. This is great for filters and settings panels.

For notifications/messages, it’s nice to mark items read when they actually enter the viewport. IntersectionObserver + Stimulus keeps it lightweight, and Turbo streams can update badges in real time.

When a session expires, Turbo requests can start returning 401/302 and the UI gets confusing. Handle unauthorized turbo requests explicitly: return a stream that updates a “session expired” banner or triggers a redirect.

Sometimes you want to “redirect” from a turbo stream response (especially for Turbo Native flows). Returning a stream that updates a frame to include a turbo-visit shim keeps behavior consistent across clients.

Keyboard shortcuts improve power-user workflows, but they must survive Turbo navigation. Attach on connect/disconnect, avoid global leaks, and scope shortcuts to the page/component.

For long operations (imports, conversions), run work in a job and stream progress updates. The job emits broadcast_update_to so the UI updates live without polling.
